We are looking for a skilled Project Manager with a background in technical project management and expertise in railway manufacturing or signaling. The ideal candidate will excel in overseeing complex projects, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring seamless collaboration between internal teams and external partners, while communicating fluently in English and Spanish.

- As part of our Project Management team, you will oversee daily operations for a range of projects, from designing new locomotives to upgrading existing systems
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to keep everything on track and aligned with our goals
- Oversee procurement and manage commercial negotiations for high-value supply contracts with large OEMs, ensuring successful outcomes
- Develop detailed project plans with clear milestones, assessment checkpoints, and success criteria to ensure steady progress
- Provide critical support during subsidy application processes, working closely with the Head of Projects to secure necessary funding
- Provide regular progress updates and reports to stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned and informed on key developments

Who we are looking for
Our Passenger Division is responsible for the leasing of passenger trains. Our current portfolio of 493 multiple-unit trains is primarily operated in regional passenger services in Germany, as well as in Czechia, Slovakia, and the Netherlands.
To expand our business in Czechia and Slovakia, we are looking for a Commercial Manager, who will represent Alpha Trains in the local market. You will work mostly from your home city; about once a month you will be travelling to Cologne to meet and align with the Passenger team. As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible to explore new business opportunities and to manage local customer relations in close cooperation with the Fleet Manager Czechia/ Slovakia.
We are looking for a strong customer relationship manager, who brings his/her own ideas and approaches to conquer the local market with their team. You love to work with people from different backgrounds and you thrive in an international, complex and data-driven environment.
WHAT WOULD KEEP YOU BUSY
- You are responsible for managing existing lease contracts for the current fleet and generating new leasing opportunities in the passenger train business.
- You have close contact with existing and potential new customers and operators, as well as other stakeholders of the sector such as public transport authorities, suppliers, or relevant industry associations. This includes networking and participation at conferences
- You conduct thorough research on the local market to identify new business opportunities. Using this information, you develop and present detailed business cases to our management team.
- You work in interdisciplinary teams on the conception, development, negotiation, and documentation of complex commercial contracts with customers and suppliers. Projects include for instance European tenders for railway operations and rolling stock.
- You are in charge of (Key) Account Management of our leasing customers and liaise between them and our internal departments such as Engineering, Finance, Accounting and Legal.
- You follow Alpha Trains Vision, Mission and Values and comply with internal approvals and authorisations.
- You help to develop our product offerings and operational procedures to meet market needs.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM
- You have a degree in Business Studies, Economics, Industrial Engineering or similar.
- You have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, of which at least 5 years in the railway industry in Czechia and/or Slovakia.
- You have a good knowledge on public tender law.
- You are a native speaker of Czech or Slovak and fluent in English.
- You are willing to travel frequently within Czechia and Slovakia, and once a month to Cologne/Germany.
- You are an assertive and confident negotiator, with strong communication and networking skills.
- You are a responsible team player with excellent planning and organizational skills.
- You can quickly understand and structure complicated information and complex situations.

- As the backbone of our passenger train fleet, you act as the first point of contact for our customers and answer their technical questions.
- You analyze and optimize fleet performance, based on the available data (maintenance events, train usage, train diagnostics, …).
- You manage technical performance reviews and audits of our passenger trains fleet and participate in supplier and sub-supplier assessment audits and First Article Inspection (FAI), at the start of/ prior to the production process.
- You develop maintenance plans to improve Life Cycle Costing (LCC).
- You take care of our asset management in accordance with the Alpha Trains BU Passenger quality management system, ECM regulations and other standards.
- You support business development by providing technical support to the negotiation and drafting of leasing and purchase contracts.
- You provide support in case of accident repairs, heavy maintenance, and navigate through contract negotiations.
- You stay vigilant for shifts in European and national regulations, ensuring compliance and accuracy in our operations, providing technical perspective to the project team.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM
- You have a technical background – a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent by experience.
- You have 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the rail industry.
- You are a native speaker of Czech or Slovak and understand the Czech and Slovak culture. Besides that, you are fluent in English. Any other language is a plus.
- You have a customer-oriented and professional approach.
- You have a keen eye for improvement.
- You build strong relationships effortlessly, fostering trust and collaboration with colleagues, customers, and suppliers alike.
- You are willing to travel within Europe - regularly around Czech Republic/ Slovakia and once a month to Cologne.

- Ability to structure projects and steer them by managing all relevant stakeholders
- Good knowledge of public tender law is a plus
- Analytical mindset and good attention to detail

- Understanding of the European railway market and its regulations
