At Alpha Trains, leasing passenger trains goes far beyond sheer financing – “operating lease” is the keyword. We bear the full residual value risk for the entire service life of the vehicles: as a lessee, once you properly return the vehicles at the end of the leasing contract, you have no further obligations towards us acting as a lessor.
Attractive leasing solutions reinforce competition for transportation contracts and are a prerequisite of a functioning secondary market. They allow regions and operators to react to political and demographic changes without incalculable risks.
Liberalisation of railway transportation
Competition between local railway passenger transportation leads to an increase in quality thanks to up-to-date vehicles, while at the same time reducing costs. The latest figures for Germany prove the advantages of the liberalisation of railway transportation: between 2002 and 2016, the market share of Deutsche Bahn"s competitors grew from 8.2% to 33%. Over the same period, the number of passenger kilometres increased by 40%, while at the same time costs (government operating subsidies per train kilometre) dropped by 30%.

We are a reliable and trustworthy partner for planning and implementing large financing projects. Our support begins with the selection of the vehicle and extends across the entire build phase and delivery up to the return of the vehicle at the end of the lease.
Modernisation and conversion of vehicles
Our technical teams support you not only in the development and realisation of your new construction projects, but also in modernisation or conversion of vehicles according to the latest technical standards. With our expertise, we can also assist you in the purchase of entire fleets with tailor-made financing solutions (e.g. sale & leaseback transactions) and in modernisation projects.
Optimisation and maintenance
Even after delivery, we take care of the continuous improvement of the fleet. Alpha Trains’ engineers accompany you both in heavy maintenance operations and in changes to maintenance schedules. In order to keep costs for heavy maintenance transparent and predictable, maintenance reserves are established.
