Alpha Trains announces the acquisition of 89 regional passenger trains

Luxembourg, 31st March 2016

Alpha Trains Luxembourg S.á r.l. announces the purchase of 89 regional passenger train sets from Société Anonyme de Crédit à l’Industrie Francaise and SNC Vindelica, two indirect owned subsidiaries of Société Générale.

The acquisition relates to three fleets comprising of:

  • 35 Alstom Coradia Continental (18x3car, 17x5 car) EMUs –S-Bahn Bremen concession
  • 28 Alstom Coradia Lint 41 DMUs - Niers-Rhein-Emscher concession
  • 26 Alstom Coradia Lint 41 DMUs - Dieselnetz AugsburgII concession

All three fleets are operated by subsidiaries of Transdev.

“This is a significant deal and reinforces our position in Europe leasing market and represents a successful first use of our recently created financing platform to fund the acquisition” commented Shaun Mills, CEO of Alpha Trains Group “The acquisition of the fleet expands the portfolio of passenger regional trains by some 25% to a total of 436 assets. With the purchase of the Alstom Coradia Continental EMUs our portfolio now includes trains from all well known manufacturers of electrical multiple units and with it we can further expand our market share in Europe.”, adds Shaun Mills.
