On every track our local people make the difference!

What do you do at Alpha Trains Group and how long have you been working there?

I have recently joined Alpha Trains’ Scandinavian team as the new Fleet Manager for Sweden. My main role will be to act as the point of contact for our customers in Sweden and ensure the locomotives are properly maintained and run smoothly.

Why did you choose to join Alpha Trains?

I have always been passionate about the railway industry – even if I would not call myself a “railway geek”. I have spent most of my career on the operational side of the railway industry in Sweden, but I was really curious about the other perspective, the supplier side. Alpha Trains caught my attention with its excellent reputation and remarkable portfolio, making it the perfect place for me to grow and broaden my expertise.

What are the specific characteristics of the Swedish rail market? Are there specific needs?

The Swedish market is at an interesting crossroads. A lot of our locomotives are aging, so there is a real need for modernization in this market. On top of that, there is an ongoing shift towards ETCS, the European Train Control System. It is a huge step forward for safety and interoperability across Europe, but Sweden still has some way to go before we are fully there. It is a challenge, but it’s also an exciting opportunity to be part of this transformation.

What is your favorite locomotive and why?

That is a tough question! I would say the Vectron by Siemens. It is such a versatile locomotive, with so many different versions, tailored to the needs of nearly every European country. That said, there are still many locomotives I have not had the chance to work with yet, like the Euro 9000 or the Vectron Dual Mode, and I’m really excited to explore and learn more about them.

How would you define Alpha Trains’ corporate culture?

It is warm and welcoming, and there is a genuine sense of teamwork that feels like being part of a big family. Everyone is incredibly helpful and willing to share their knowledge. At the same time, the company is very well-structured and organized, which makes everything run smoothly. It’s a rare combination of professionalism and friendliness – the best of both worlds!

How do you define customer satisfaction?

For me, customer satisfaction means providing a product and service that exceeds expectations. It is all about giving customers complete peace of mind. Coming from the operational side of the rail industry, I know exactly how frustrating it is when something does not work as it should. Customers need locomotives that are safe, reliable, and efficient. At Alpha Trains, reliability is a top priority, and I think that is one of the reasons why we are so successful.
