Alpha Trains and Public Transport Service Partner to introduce Bombardier Talent Diesel Multiple Units to the Polish market

Cologne/Antwerp/Gdansk, 23 September 2025 - Alpha Trains and Public Transport Service Partner to introduce Bombardier Talent Diesel Multiple Units to the Polish market

Alpha Trains and Public Transport Service (PTS) are pleased to announce that they have signed an agreement to introduce 11 Bombardier (now: Alstom) Talent diesel multiple units (DMU) to the Polish market. This strategic partnership addresses the growing demand for diesel rolling stock in the region by providing modern, high-quality, and reliable pre-owned vehicles. To showcase the quality of the Alpha Trains DMU fleet, a 3-car Alstom Talent DMU unit will be presented at TRAKO 2025.

The collaboration marks a significant step for both companies in strengthening their presence and expanding their leasing offerings in Poland.

“Alpha Trains has been systematically building its position in the Polish rail vehicle leasing market for several years. We continue to see a growing demand for modern passenger rolling stock in Poland, including diesel multiple units. Together with PTS, we are now taking the next step to deliver a sustainable solution that meets these evolving market needs.” said Stephan Wegert, Commercial Director of Alpha Trains.

Radosław Obliżajek, Commercial Manager, added: “We have been present on the locomotive market for a long time and now, as previously announced, we aim to authorize Talent and Lint 41 vehicles for the Polish market. Today, together with Public Transport Service, we are launching the first project with the delivery of Talent units.”

In addition to this first step, Alpha Trains could make a further 50 Bombardier/Alstom Talent units and 28 Alstom Coradia Lint trains available for leasing over the coming years. This expansion of the portfolio ensures that operators in Poland will have access to a wider range of pre-owned, efficient, and reliable diesel multiple units to meet future mobility needs.

The agreement between Alpha Trains and PTS follows a successful pilot project by PTS. In July of this year, PTS delivered the first secondary market vehicle, SA136-ATR-001, to Koleje Wielkopolskie.

“The vehicle has been transporting passengers in the Greater Poland region for three months and is achieving very good availability indicators,” said Jacek Tomasik of PTS. “This demonstrates that PTS’s strategy of first performing a thorough overhaul and then homologating the vehicle is delivering the expected results. We intend to take similar actions if domestic operators express interest in Talent vehicles.”

Both companies emphasize that their goal is a multifaceted cooperation aimed at enabling the operation of Talent vehicles on the Polish market, followed by other types such as Lint 41.

“TRAKO 2025 is a special event for us,” Oblizajek explained. “We have the opportunity to present the 3-car Talent vehicle in the configuration in which it operates daily in several regions in Germany. Although it is a used unit, passengers hardly notice it. The vehicle is equipped with comfortable seating and an efficient air conditioning system. The presented unit is technically sound, offers good traction performance, and high comfort. The presentation of a secondary market vehicle is likely the first of its kind at the TRAKO fair, and we can assure you similar events are not excluded in the future.”

The companies are setting an ambitious goal of having the first 11 x Talent vehicles ready for operation in Poland within 18 months.

“We are aware that much will depend on how quickly we acquire customers for this rolling stock and complete the localization and homologation process,” Tomasik added. “Based on the experience gained with the SA136-ATR-001 vehicle, we hope to optimize this process. We also look forward to continued fruitful cooperation with Alpha Trains. Today’s agreement is another step forward for us.”
