Management change at Alpha Trains

Bernhard Holzer appointed Managing Director of the Passenger Division

Luxembourg/Cologne, 31 August 2023 - Alpha Trains, the leading European leasing company for locomotives and trains, announces that Bernhard Holzer will assume the position of Managing Director of Alpha Trains Europa GmbH and Head of the Passenger Division as of 1 September 2023.

Bernhard Holzer has been responsible for Alpha Trains Group’s Investment and Funding department since 2016, and joined the senior management team in 2019 as Group Investment Funding Director. After studying international business administration, he held various management positions in Germany and Spain in the banking and auditing sector. He has been active in the rail industry for many years and has extensive experience in the fields of corporate client advisory, corporate & project finance and equity investments.

Bernhard Holzer succeeds Thomas Schmidt, who is leaving the company for personal reasons after 10 years as Managing Director and Head of the Passenger Division. The close working relationship between Thomas Schmidt and Bernhard Holzer ensures a seamless management transition.

"It is an honour to be entrusted with this important role at Alpha Trains and to be able to build on Thomas Schmidt′s successes. Together with a dedicated and well-positioned team, we will further strengthen our position as a leading European rail leasing company," says Bernhard Holzer, Managing Director of the Passenger Trains Division.

"I am convinced that Bernhard Holzer is the ideal choice as the new Managing Director to continue Alpha Trains′ impressive track record and lead the company into an even more successful future," emphasises Fernando Pérez, CEO of the Alpha Trains Group.
