Junior Commercial Manager – Passenger (m/f/d)
Alpha Trains has owned and leased locomotives and passenger trains for 25 years. More than 150 employees of various nationalities are active across Europe. Our more than 1,000 locomotives and passenger trains are utilized in 22 European countries.
Who we are looking for
To support the continued growth of our Passenger business in Germany and across Europe, we are looking for a Junior Commercial Manager to join our Commercial Team in Cologne. In this role, you will primarily support the Commercial Team in its leasing activities for our existing passenger fleet and new-build projects, working closely with colleagues from Commercial, Technical and Finance teams.
WHAT WOULD KEEP YOU BUSY
Contribute to the development and growth of Alpha Trains’ Passenger business in Germany and EU markets by supporting the Passenger Commercial Team in the Cologne office in leasing activities for the existing passenger fleet and new-build projects, including offer preparation, commercial analysis, and coordination with technical and finance functions.
- Market Research: Conduct structured market research on EU passenger rail markets, regulatory developments, funding programs, and financing structures for rolling stock to support strategic decision‑making.
- Bid Management: Analyze tender specifications, prepare commercial inputs, help structure high‑quality bid documentation, and take ownership of defined work packages within tender processes, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Customer, Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, advisors, and internal stakeholders to support smooth project execution and ongoing account management.
- Governance: Contribute to internal approval processes and reporting, ensuring compliance with internal policies and decision-making procedures.
- Product & Business Development: Actively contribute ideas to refine product offerings, commercial processes, and operational procedures to enhance competitiveness and customer value.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM
If you are excited about joining our team, here is what we are looking for in the ideal candidate:
- Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Finance or a related field
- 2–3 years of experience in a commercial, analytical or customer-facing B2B role
- Experience in railways, leasing, infrastructure or banking is a strong advantage
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand complex commercial and regulatory topics
- Structured, reliable and proactive working style with high attention to detail
- Confident communicator and team player, able to perform well under pressure (e.g. during tenders)
- Fluency in German and English; additional European languages are a plus
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe
