Financial Modeler (f/m/d)

Alpha Trains has owned and leased locomotives and passenger trains for nearly 22 years. More than 130 employees of various nationalities are active across Europe. Our approximately 930 locomotives and passenger trains are utilized in 21 European countries.


Your Role

For our project and corporate finance activities we are looking for an additional financial modeler. We are looking throughout Europe, to find the most suitable candidate for an opportunity, which provides a direct role in the growth of the company and access to stakeholders.

  • Working within the Group Investment Funding team to build both excel-based non-financial models for operational needs and financial models for project and corporate financing
  • Translation of business assumptions into models
  • Testing and auditing of assumptions, model structure and results to ensure that the models and business cases are robust
  • Analysis of how projects may be structured to maximise and optimise project KPIs
  • Applying valuation skills to group business valuations and M&A activities
  • Other transaction roles in asset procurement and corporate financing projects
  • Preparation of content for company presentations and investor reports
  • Involvement in the preparation of board papers
  • Close collaboration with key stakeholders (e.g. project team members, client-facing account managers, senior management, shareholders and external parties)

Your Profile

  • Several years of experience in financial analysis and valuation (accounting qualification and understanding of IFRS fundamentals are an advantage)
  • Experience in working with clients to understand their business and build integrated financial models to their needs
  • Thorough understanding of modeling best practice (model audit experience an advantage)
  • Advanced excel skills with practical experience in acquisition/project modeling (VBA for MS Excel is advantageous)
  • Highly motivated self-starter, team player with a strong ethical and positive attitude
  • Analytical and structured reasoning
  • Corporate Finance or Transaction Services experience advantageous
  • Meticulous attention to detail, diligence and conscientiousness
  • Ability to identify issues and generate ideas on the back of analyses
  • Excellent at working under pressure and self-managing timeframes
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluency in English (good command of German is advantageous)
  • Ease in a multicultural environment
  • Willing to travel to Cologne regularly
