Pioneer for sustainability in rail vehicle leasing

New Sustainability Manager at Alpha Trains

Cologne, 9 July 2018 - Carsten Schnurpfeil has been Sustainability Manager at Alpha Trains since 1 July 2018. The leading lessor of locomotives and trains has created the new position in order to focus on future-oriented issues such as quality, environment, safety and social responsibility.

Schnurpfeil has many years of experience as manager for the areas of sustainability and quality management: he was responsible as Division Manager for quality, environment, safety, processes and compliance at Carglass before he headed Quality Management at Tank & Rast. The graduate industrial engineer has been with Alpha Trains since 2016, and was previously responsible as “Quality, Process and Maintenance System Manager” for important safety and quality issues for the Passenger Trains division, as well as among other things for coordinating DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 certification.

Sustainability, safety, quality and the environment are central issues for Alpha Trains and a prerequisite for lasting and stable economic success. In 2016, the lessor became the first company in the industry worldwide to enter the American private placement market with a so-called “green” private placement. This pioneering work was awarded the prestigious Green Bond Pioneer Award by the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI).

Responsibility for the environment and society are also firmly anchored and described in the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Policy and Mission-Vision-Values Statement.
